Biography

Huihui Wu received the B.Sc. degree in communication engineering from the Southwest Minzu University, Chengdu, China, in 2011, the M.Sc. degree in communication engineering from Xiamen University (Prof. Lin Wang), Xiamen, China, in 2014, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from McMaster University (Prof. Sorina Dumitrescu), Hamilton, ON, Canada, in 2018. From November 2018 to March 2021, he was first a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist with Columbia University (Prof. Xiaodong Wang), New York, NY, USA, and then a Post-Doctoral Researcher with McGill University (Prof. Mark Coates and Prof. Warren Gross), Montreal, QC, Canada.
He was a Senior Researcher with the Huawei Hong Kong Research Center, Hong Kong, SAR, from November 2020 to May 2023, and then a Staff Engineer with RDA Technologies Ltd., Hong Kong, from June 2023 to August 2024. He is currently an Associate Researcher with Ningbo Institute of Digital Twin, Zhejiang, China. He was a recipient of the Best Paper Awards of IEEE ICCT 2021 and IEEE WTS 2022.

His research interests span the fields of communications, coding theory, information theory, and machine learning, with a focus on:

  • Compression/quantization and machine learning
  • Channel coding and quantum coding
  • Semantic communications/information theory
  • Joint source and channel coding/decoding
  • Optimal Transport in information theory
  • Deep learning and its applications
